In its brief seven-week run, Sacha Baron Cohen's Showtime series Who Is America? managed to piss off a large swath of American politics, with hilarious and often juvenile results. As quickly as it was announced, however, the series' run is now over.
Leading up to the show's season finale last night (August 26), Cohen made it very clear that it was the "last EVER" episode:
Of course, aside from the endless streams of both legal and death threats Cohen has likely received, it would also be hard to make more of the series after creating such a press storm during its initial run.
Most notably, Sarah Palin spoke out to say she was duped into giving an interview on the show. Her long-awaited segment did not materialize, though she was credited as a "Special Publicity Consultant (Inadvertent)" in the final episode, a nod to the amount of press she drummed up for the show.
Speaking at TCA, Showtime's Gary Levine had warned that the Palin clip may not surface, saying that Cohen "is always refining" the show up until the last minute.
That said, the show did cause plenty of shit storms throughout the United States. Revisit the (incredibly offensive) segment that lost Georgia lawmaker Jason Spencer his job below.
