Tommy Chong Wants to Revive His 'That '70s Show' Role for Spinoff

Tommy Chong — one half of the reefer-smoking comedy duo Cheech and Chong — wants to revive his beloved acting role as Leo, the hippie from the popular early-aughts TV series That '70s Show.

Speaking with Popculture.com, the Canadian actor/cannabis rights activist expressed a desire to resurrect Leo for a new spinoff series that could potentially include the show's original cast members. He suggested the idea of including Topher Grace, Laura Prepon, Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis and Wilmer Valderrama, bringing them into the hypothetical series "at different times, or all together."

"I've played with the idea of Leo doing a spinoff," Chong said. "Leo really hasn't changed. Leo's still the same, old hippie that he was back then."

While Chong seems fully on board for the new series, Popculture.com's recent conversation with Prepon went a little differently. When asked if she'd be interested in reviving her role as Donna, Eric Forman's girlfriend, the actor responded slightly less enthusiastically.

"It's kind of like, someone who has a great experience at college," she said. "You graduate, and I don't think you'd want to go back through college again and go through the stuff, but you really are like, 'Wow, what an experience that molded me in so many different ways.' And you know, hopefully you had a great experience doing it, but it's kind of like in this little capsule. I don't know. I don't think I would do that."

While Prepon's involvement doesn't necessarily make or break the spinoff idea, there doesn't appear to be any solid plans in effect for a new series anyway. Knowing that Chong is on board at least gives us a little hope, though.
