Jim Carrey Painted Mussolini and the Italian Dictator's Granddaughter Doesn't Like It

"You are a bastard"

Canadian comedian-turned-political-painter Jim Carrey has managed to piss off the granddaughter of one of history's most infamous dictators.

Rather than turning to the current U.S. administration for inspiration as he's done in the past, Carrey opted to paint a portrait of 20th century Italian dictator Benito Mussolini.

The piece depicts the former fascist leader and his mistress Claretta, executed by hanging upside down.

Mussolini's granddaughter, Alessandra Mussolini — currently a right-wing Italian politician herself — responded to Carrey's painting, calling him "a bastard."

She didn't stop there, though. Mussolini continued to tweet at Carrey, challenging him to paint shameful moments in the history of the United States, like mistreatment of the Native Americans, napalm attacks in Vietnam and segregation.

She also had some choice words for anyone condemning the acts of her grandfather, which isn't exactly a good look (especially when half your Twitter feed is endorsements of Donald Trump).
