Four of the most important names in televised comedy are coming together for a new series. Fred Armisen (Portlandia, SNL), Tim Heidecker (Tim & Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!, Decker), John C. Reilly (Check It Out with Dr. Steve Brule) and Jonathan Krisel (Portlandia, Baskets) have joined forces for a new series called Moonbase 8.
According to Deadline, Moonbase 8 will follow three subpar astronauts living in NASA's Moon Base Simulator in the desert, all of whom dream of being picked as the next real dudes to go to the moon.
Armisen, Heidecker and Reilly will play the astronauts, while Krisel will direct all six episodes.
The series is being produced by Heidecker's company Abso Lutely in collaboration with A24.
In a statement, A24 said, "Moonbase 8 is pure comic genius and we are thrilled to be a part of this show from the ground up. We can't wait to introduce this fearless group of astronauts as they prepare to go where several people have gone before… but not as hilariously."
The show will be shopped to networks once it has been completed.
