Dave Chappelle Teams Up with Third Man to Release '8:46' on Vinyl
Dave Chappelle is joining forces with Jack White's Third Man Records to release the comedian's 8:46 on vinyl.

The record will house an audio recording of the comedian's viral video captured last summer in Ohio in the wake of the murder of George Floyd. The video became YouTube's top trending video of 2020 with over 30 million views on the official post, with Chappelle's Instagram post grabbing another 7.5 million.

The B-side of the 12-inch features poet Amir Sulaiman's performance of "My Insides Out" and "We Must Win," which was also recorded in Ohio. The B-side also contains a moment of silence called "White Noise" that runs for eight minutes and 46 seconds in honour of Floyd and the countless other victims of police violence and systemic racism.

The limited-edition colour vinyl pressing will arrive as 846 numbered copies, with each emblazoned in red, black and green. It's already on sale now at the Third Man webstore. A standard black version will also arrive on October 29 and is also now available for pre-order.

Proceeds from the vinyl sales will be donated to Chappelle's high school alma mater, Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington, DC.

"When I was a student at Duke Ellington, the teachers instilled in me the notion of activism through art," said Chappelle in a statement. "We need more soldiers for great causes on the stage."

Previously, 8:46 also arrived as a Netflix special.
