The Diodes Team Up with Teenage Head's Gordie Lewis for Canadian Tour Dates

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Sep 1, 2015

Toronto punk legends the Diodes were seminal to the scene from the late '70s on, but they haven't slowed down just yet. Following a reunion tour with all of the original members back in 2010, the group have now announced a fresh string of Canadian tour dates.

The week-long run of shows kicks off in Toronto on September 11 and will see the band hit venues around Ontario before wrapping things up on September 17 in Montreal.

A handful of the shows will feature the added bonus of special guest Gordie Lewis of Teenage Head and a screening of the 1977 film Crash'n'Burn, which was directed by Ross McLaren and profiles the titular Toronto club and the bands that played there in the summer of 1977 (the Diodes, Teenage Head, the Dead Boys and the Boyfriends). An exhibition of punk photography and memorabilia courtesy of Ralph Alfonso will also be on display and for sale along the route.

Also of note, on September 12 in Bowmanville, the Diodes will be launching their own custom beverage with the Manantler Craft Brewing CO., going by the name Time Damage IPA.

Finally, as part of the Pop Montreal festival, the band's September 17 gig in Montreal will feature special guest Don Pyle presenting his "out of focus talking slide show" and photo exhibition, giving fans some extra insight into Toronto's rich punk history.

In addition to the live shows, the band are gearing up to release vinyl reissues of all three of their records next year via Storming the Base. The Italian vinyl version of The Diodes Live at the El Mocambo 1978, meanwhile, is currently being prepped to make its debut on CD and as a digital download later this year.
