By Denise FalzonCanadian women of metal Kittie have returned with their new album I've Failed You. The record marks the quartet's most personal and emotional release to date, while maintaining their classic heaviness and aggression. Listen to it for yourselves with our advance stream of the entire album.
I've Failed You is Kittie's sixth full-length since forming in 1996 and is the follow-up to their 2009 album In the Black, which the band describe as the release that "refocused their sound." The upcoming LP is also their second album with eOne Music and was produced by Siegfried "Siggy" Meier at Beach Road Studios in Goderich, ON. Meier also worked with Kittie on 2001's Oracle, as well as on In the Black.
eOne Music will release I've Failed You on August 30, but the album can be streamed in its entirety right now exclusively on Exclaim.ca. Check it out below.
If you were just released from prison after about 20 years of solitary confinement, this album would own; it's completely unoriginal and unexciting. It sounds like Kill Em' All era thrash meets Early Man riffs with Morgan singing over them. If it weren't for Spit, this band wouldn't have a name or face.
My only complaint would be that it is only 11 tracks--- 36Mins long.... for a era of only cd's that can hold nearly 80 mins.... i'm getting really tired of bands that can't even put out at least 14 tracks. Having said that these songs are great, just wish there was more to enjoy.
wow, I love how all these haters have any knowledge whatsoever about what it's like to actually make music. Real music, versus pop friendly money hungry radio music. As far as their old stuff, how often do you re read shit you wrote in high school in public as your own now? They've grown better with each album, and they work their asses off. Wtf is wrong with that? I give these grrrlz mad respect and loyalty for sticking with it and ripping the walls off the boundries placed on them...and mostly for continueing to live what they love...music. This album was worth every excrutiating minute I had to wait for it!
fuck all them haters i have loved every kittie album an this is no different, some ppl obviously dont realise how hard it is for a all chick metal band to make it in this scene an the fact they have deserves respect on it's own an their music is much better than the typical wannabe slayer, metallica an pantera wannabe bands keep up the awesome tunes ladys
my name is katherine , ive been listening to kittie since album ONE , and well they have come along way , i loved in the black and anyone who listened to funeral for yesterday has to agree it was TRASH so not them , but they most def redeemed them selfs with "in the black " .... and only listening to 2 songs on this albums the first song , is point less and kinda boring ! the second song nice beat to it ! still sucked , wisper of death has been a pleasure listening to ! its more like in the black album ! , i have to say i love them but i also expect them to maintain there work and NOT then let it go .....
This album is very solid, guitar-wise. Mercedes drumming style is becoming repetitive and could seriously use some more skill. I wonder if they would ever consider Mr. Jordison to do an album with them as a session drummer.
I've been a Kittie fan for 12 years, and I must say this is their worst album to date. With the improvement I heard in In The Black, I was anticipating that this album would be even better so you can imagine my disappointment after hearing this album. I've always felt that Morgan's fault lied mainly in her inability to write decent melodic vocal parts. Like in Funeral for Yesterday, she's back to doing songs where she mainly sings (to my disdain). The music is repetitive and slow on this album excluding the track "I've Failed You" (I actually like that song). But all that matters is that there are actually people who like this shit, so good for Kittie.
Mercedes! What happened? I used to like your drumming but this stuff is so simple and repetitive! And Tara! What happened to your awesome solos? These solo's suck! Morgan! You started using a little style in your voice in In The Black, you're back to your old bland signing! Bad Kitties....... Crappy album girls.....
Obviously most of you haters seem to be the type who only enjoys the mainstream, money-grubbing sluts they slap on the radio and tell you has talent...and I'm here to tell you that almot all of it requires no talent whatsoever. However, Kittie has had much talent since 1996, and thi album is very good. I'll admit, In The Black was better, but this one is almost as good in my honest opinion. Tara's solos tend to be a bit longer on this album AND more complex than ITB's. My only complaint is the runtime, it's not long enough for me, I hate half-hour albums.
The commenter above is a living contradiction... They start off their ramble with "Obviously most of you haters seem to be the type who only enjoys the mainstream..." and so on, then ends off with "I hate half-hour albums."
So if you "hate" half hour albums, why are you expressing your "hate" on this wall? Most of the intelligible comments on here, ones with actual thought put behind it, aren't hating. Maybe disappointed that some of the songs aren't as solid as they could be. There's plenty to love about this album and very few complaints.
I usually like their albums better after I see them play live. I'm hoping when they come back around in December they play "Ugly" cuz that's going to some serious chaos in the pit!! m/
Great work Tara! This is a great album! Im gonna see them on the 7th in Houston Tx. And i don't care if they play old shit or not! I just wanna hear Tara play them purdy solos! God Bless Kittie!
So far ll crap... jus say, made it to track 7, we'll see about the rest... man and i used to LOVE them, im forever old skool kittie, sorry girls, ive always loved you but once you lost Falon and Talena i just didnt know what to do, Hope u come out with somethin better in the future
These girls are and have been a blessing to the metal world since there first album. and for all the people who feel like they have to bash there music, if you are true metal heads? why dont you try picking up a guitar and writing a song sometime. its a hell of a lot harder than you think!!!! then try getting it to sound good, then try getting everyone else to think it sounds good, then try writing 12 more of the same, ha ha ha ha ha!!!! you wont be able to do it,not unless you are an accomplished musician that is seasoned and have a creative knack for it!!!! these girls do it and have been for a long time!!!! its like a sports team, you cant win the superbowl every year. but you just keep playing.
