Zola Jesus Returns with 'Conatus'

BY Josiah HughesPublished Jun 29, 2011

Brooding goth pop/post-punk singer Zola Jesus (born Nika Roza Danilova) has kept up her hot streak of releases with three well-received EPs in 2010, including the Exclaim!-approved Valusia. Now, she will follow it up with a brand new album.

The record is called Conatus and sees Danilova write and record everything herself with some production help from Nudge's Brian Foote. The album is said to include viola, violin, cello and double bass, suggesting a more layered sound than previous releases.

Conatus will be available in the UK on September 26 via Souterrain Transmissions and in North America on October 4 via Sacred Bones. Album track "Vessel" can be streamed below.
