Zola Jesus Preps New Valusia EP, Tours with the XX, Fever Ray and Xiu Xiu

BY Alex HudsonPublished Aug 26, 2010

Creepy pop noir songstress Zola Jesus has earned a steady blog buzz over the past year thanks to her eerie, atmospheric sound and prolific output. Her recent Stridulum EP only came out this past March, but she's already set to drop another. It is called Valusia and is due out October 12 via Sacred Bones.

The four-song collection marks the first time Zola Jesus has worked with a producer, as she teamed up with studio whiz Chris Coady (TV on the Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Beach House). It features "Poor Animal," an "airy, almost dance track," as well as "Lightsick, a "straight piano ballad - not synth, real piano." Fans of her darker past work will find "Tower," which has "that Mad Max apocalyptic creep we know and love."

Check out the tracklist below and the album cover (with a photo taken by the singer's mom) above. You can pre-order the EP on twelve-inch vinyl or CD here.

See Zola's never-ending tour schedule below the tracklist, with opening slots for Fever Ray, the XX and Xiu Xiu. According to her label, most of the dates will be with her full band.
