As previously reported, Zola Jesus recently got together with JG Thirlwell (a.k.a. Foetus) to put together an LP of reinterpreted tracks titled Versions, and now the artist has unveiled a strings-laden redo of her 2011 tune "Avalanche."
Flipping the script from the original, which figured on Zola Jesus' Conatus LP, the singer approaches her inward-looking lyrics much more softly than before, which helps since the gothy electro-pop pulse has been replaced here by a subtly bowed arrangement.
