Kazoo!'s pancake breakfast shows are a consistently rewarding festival tradition. It's a simple conceit: lure in a tired, hungry community with a casual zone free of pretension and an indulgent breakfast spread, slow down the tempo and facilitate a welcoming environment where everyone can reflect on the week behind them.

Unfortunately for Toronto-based producer Ziibiwan, this meant much of the audience was happy to relocate to the hallway to catch up during their set, the downtempo genre-hopping on display largely failing to maintain interest. But it provided a beautiful moment of symmetry when it brought the festival full circle in a piece formulated around opening night headliner and RPM labelmate Leanne Betasamosake Simpson's dreamy "Under Your Always Light," the Michi Saagiig Nishnaabeg artist's poetry dancing with Ziibiwan's cascading landscape of harps and nature sounds.
