Published Oct 22, 2010Zeus were one of Canada's breakout bands of 2010, putting out their first full-length, Say Us, and scoring a spot on the Polaris Music Prize long list. Rather than bask in their success, however, the band are looking to keep the momentum going by launching a series of seven-inch singles.
The first instalment in the series is a double A-side bringing together the tracks "Hot Under the Collar" and "Aeroplane." It will be out December 7 via Arts & Crafts and that's the cover above.
"Hot Under the Collar" was recorded at the home of fellow Toronto rockers the Golden Dogs and is the first time Zeus have ever recorded outside of their own Ill Eagle Studio. "Aeroplane," meanwhile, is a Say Us outtake that was recorded in late 2009. Both tracks were mixed by Robbie Lackritz, who also worked on Say Us, as well as Feist's The Reminder and Jamie Lidell's Compass.
According to a press release, the singles series is open-ended, so there's no limit to the number of goodies we could be getting from Zeus. Pre-order it here, and catch the band on tour at one of the dates below.
