Zen Guerilla Shadows On The Sun

For all the excitement surrounding Zen Guerrilla in the last few years, they never fail to disappoint me and this latest album is no exception. This is barely pumped-up blues-rock that isn't far enough away from a Sunday "open jam" night to make it exceptional in any way. The structures are all ultra-traditional and every guitar solo and singer's scream can be seen coming a mile away. The vocalist does have a cool afro haircut, but he's coming from the Pearl Jam/Creed school of singing and that isn't so cool. This is a very boring record. (Sub Pop)
