Zaki

Zaki

If there’s any justice, Zaki Ibrahim is going to be a voice that we should be hearing much more of in the future. Exuding genuine sincerity in her malleable voice, Zaki’s warm presence is so enveloping even a cold-hearted cynic would have to feel it. A casual appraisal would categorise her music as R&B, but Ibrahim draws intuitively and subtly from reggae, jazz and hip-hop among other things in a way that displays her versatility without using this attribute as a crux. In fact, the overwhelming impression on standout tracks like "Daylight” and "Connected Mattalike” is the strength of her songwriting, a knack for catchy arrangements and a righteous spiritual energy that can’t be easily denied.
