Young Guv Announces 'GUV II' LP, Shares "Try Not to Hang on So Hard"

Ben Cook recently delivered the goods with his alarmingly great Young Guv album GUV I, and now he's ready to give us its companion piece.

GUV II features an additional nine songs from the same writing sessions as the first album, which was created while Cook was temporarily living in Brooklyn.

"To me Young Guv songs are like people-watching in a foreign country in the morning," he said in a statement, describing his time in New York. "I'm there and I'm trying not to cry from the overwhelming feeling of sadness and happiness."

The second half of the double LP will arrive on October 25 via Run for Cover. Until then, you can hear its lead single "Try Not to Hang on So Hard" below.

Of that song, Cook said it was written "on a bit of acid," adding, "I was house-sitting for my mom and looking at all the photos and all the very British trinkets she keeps around and on her walls that make her happy. It had a pretty profound emotional effect on me, probably due to the LSD, so I wrote a song about how it's ok to feel a little lost or lonely and to keep things around you that make you feel comforted."
