You'll Never Get to Heaven

You'll Never Get to Heaven, the new electro pop duo composed of Chuck Blazevic and Alice Hansen, gained a fair amount of fans this weekend at OBEY Convention V. Using heavily processed (and thereby warped) samples as a powdery soundscape for Hansen's shimmering, ethereal voice, a dreamy ambience drifted throughout the Khyber Ballroom. Hansen sang gently and shyly, often turning inwards to face Blazevic instead of the front of the stage. The transitions were seamlessly overlapped, and the set was without silence, creating what seemed to be a single extended song rather than an incongruent series. OBEY brings yet another pleasant surprise.
