Published Jun 25, 2008After leaving a rocky relationship with Interscope and its "worthless A&R people last year, ...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead are launching a label of their own, Richter Scale Records. In a press release, the band revealed that the new imprint will handle the follow-up to the feisty Texans 2006 album So Divided and that the new record will likely hit sometime in January 2009.
Trail of Dead are currently working on the album with long-time producers Mike McCarthy and Chris "Frenchie" Smith and are promising "a more anthemic record" this time around. On the Trail of Deads website, you can view video clips on just how they are making this happen.
The band recorded three LPs with Interscope, after leaving behind indie labels such as Trance Syndicate and Merge several years ago. According to the ever-mouthy front-man Conrad Keely, this move back to a smaller label will allow the band "to seek the creative freedom envisioned by the founding fathers of our great nation, immune from the tyranny of the corporate ogre."
Now hows that for a colourful quote?
