You Say Party! We Say Die!

Not many bands can get away with a Fame-inspired 80s mop perm, a tendency to look somewhat moody when they think no one's looking, and a song in which the chorus is actually just counting. After their NXNE set, I'm not convinced that YSP! WSD! can either. Though their support act had got the levels just right, the sound man pushed the BC natives just that little too far, meaning that the bass distorted and the top-end stabbed you right in the eyes to get to your brain, rather than going the slow and boring route through your ears. Perhaps, when it comes to art-school dance-punk, turning it up to 11 is just one step too far.
