Yoko Ono & Antony

"I Love You, Earth"

Today (February 18) is Yoko Ono's 82nd birthday, and the boundary-pushing artist is celebrating with a couple of collaborative 10-inches. Her respective singles with Antony and John Zorn are out now; her duet with the former, "I Love You, Earth," is available to stream.

This tribute to our planet is a new version of a tune from Ono's 1985 album Starpeace. While the original version featured era-appropriate synths, this one is much more stripped-down, as she as the Antony and the Johnsons frontman croon with only piano for accompaniment. The first voice we hear is Antony's vibrato, but Ono takes over the second verse, and their voices eventually come together — not in harmony but it emphatic unison.
