Yo La Tengo Announce 'Stuff Like That There' LP, Hit Canada on World Tour

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jun 2, 2015

Long-running indie rock troupe Yo La Tengo recently celebrated their 30th anniversary as a band, but they're not showing any signs of slowing down yet. The band just announced plans to release a new record, which will be accompanied by a world tour.

Titled Stuff Like That There, the new LP is due out on August 28 through Matador.

It sees the trio of Ira Kaplan, Georgia Hubley and James McNew reuniting with former member Dave Schramm and playing as a four-piece, as they revisit old songs, cover songs by other artists, and offer up some new stuff too — following the precedent set by their similar 1990 collection Fakebook.

Yo La Tengo oldies "All Your Secrets," "The Ballad of Red Buckets" and "Deeper Into Movies" get reworked on the new record, while Hank Williams, the Cure and the Lovin' Spoonful are just a few of the artists that get covered.

You can see the full tracklisting below, while the album artwork — which was painted by Hubley — is pictured above.

In addition to the new LP, the group will be hitting the road for a world tour — their first as the current lineup. After a stint at Calgary's Sled Island Music Festival on June 26, the band will return to Canada for shows in Toronto (September 30) and Montreal (October 2), with the grand finale going down in Vancouver on November 21.

You can scroll past the Stuff Like That There tracklisting to see the full list of upcoming shows. Beyond that, you can hear album cut "Automatic Doom." It was originally performed by McNew's 1990s band Special Pillow.
