'California Livin' (mixtape)

While we're keeping our fingaz twisted for Bompton rapper YG to drop a follow-up to his much-acclaimed 2014 debut LP My Krazy Life sometime soon, he's at least done us a solid by delivering a new mixtape. Along with partners Blanco and DB Tha General, he's just offered up a freebie set called California Livin'.

Pairing nicely with its decidedly Doggystyle-inspired cover art,California Livin' finds YG continuing to salute the sounds of classic West Coast rap. A quick intro from Gansta Grillz guy DJ Drama explains that YG has been "bangin' that music" for quite some time before G-Funk synths and old school beats fill the speakers on "Drivin' Like I'm Loco." Elsewhere, brass and vintage breaks help steer "Block Party," while Mustard-style spiciness is applied to "Creepin'".

Also appearing on the tape are Nipsey Hussle, ANARCHY and DaBoy Way, while the project comes under the executive production of Cookin' Soul. You can add California Livin' to your life by streaming or downloading the freelease down below.
