Yeasayer

Ask any Quebec eater: an amuse bouche is vital foreplay. Accordingly, Yeasayer front-loaded their early evening set with samplings from their forthcoming record, Fragrant World.

While the band have dialed up the pop hooks of late, their world-music-inflected sound and light hippy leanings still come to the fore. Don't believe the superficial flippancy: they're as tight as my chinos (trust me, that's tight).

Entrée cuts like "O.N.E.," "Ambling Alp" and "2080" showed off the combo's trademark soaring harmonies and Ira Wolf Tuton's virtuoso bass playing, though closer "Tightrope" was the sing-along highlight of the night.
