Yasiin Bey Announces Two More Albums

Ahead of his impending retirement from music and acting, Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def) detailed a final project as Dec. 99th alongside Ferrari Sheppard. Now, it seems Bey is looking to make his exit with a bang, revealing plans for two additional projects to surface.

In an interview on WNL Radio this past weekend at Miami's Art Basel, Bey revealed that a solo record titled Negus in Natural Person and a project with producer Mannie Fresh titled As Promised would arrive before 2016 comes to a close.

"I will be premiering my new album, Negus in Natural Person, and me and Mannie Fresh's project, which is called As Promised, at the Apollo on Dec. 21," he said. The Apollo performance stands as one of the MC's final concerts in the United States.

Bey's last proper full-length release came in 2009 with The Ecstatic, when he still went by Mos Def. A collaborative release between Bey and Mannie has been in the works since 2012, initially titled OMFGODBKNOLA. The duo released one-off singles in the years after, but a full release never materialized.

Bey also played snippets of songs from each record, which you can hear below. One features Tame Impala. December 99 will arrive on December 9, and while it's unclear as to when Negus in Natural Person and As Promised will drop, Sheppard has told Okayplayer that they are both complete.
