X-Fest Calgary Announces 2013 Lineup with Weezer, Blink-182, the Weakerthans, Death From Above 1979

Calgary and Edmonton maintain a healthy rivalry, whether we're talking Flames vs. Oilers, Stampeders vs. Eskimos or — if you're not so into sports — the cities' competing Labour Day music festivals, X-Fest and Sonic Boom Festival, the latter of which having rolled out its lineup this morning (May 27). Like Edmonton's Sonic Boom, Calgary's X-Fest goes down August 31 and September 1, and features headlining sets from Blink-182, City and Colour, and Weezer.

Not to be outdone, the Cowtown event at Fort Calgary will also feature performances from Passion Pit, Death From Above 1979, Awolnation, the Weakerthans, Mother Mother, Dan Mangan, the Sheepdogs, Cold War Kids, Yukon Blonde, Capital Cities, Phantogram, Family of the Year and Imaginary Cities. The event will also include the winner of X92.9 FM's Xposure Fan Pick contest, though the victor has yet to be determined.

While stage times have yet to be delivered, it stands to reason that any acts playing X-Fest on August 31 will play Sonic Boom the next day and vice versa.

Two-day passes are going for $129.50, with a VIP pass running at $169.50. If you're feeling incredibly ritzy, the $3,500 VIP Cabana option will nab you 10 VIP passes, as well as a "private furnished 10"x20" VIP cabana with dedicated serving staff, optional bottle service, private washroom, personal greeting and escort into event, and all other VIP amenities."
