The Wytches Ink Canadian Deal with Dine Alone for Debut Album

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jul 15, 2014

The Wytches have recently swung through our country on tour with Cloud Nothings and Metz, and now the shadowy British rock trio have inked a Canadian deal for their impending debut album. Annabel Dream Reader will be out on August 26 on Dine Alone Records. (The UK release will be handled by Heavenly Recordings, while the U.S. release is on Partisan Records.)

The album was recorded using an analogue 8-track machine at Toe Rag Studios in London. According to a press release, the 13-song album "sees the three-piece accomplish a dark and heady sound that embraces the black arts and the more extreme limits of rock, but which is never prescriptively macabre." Influences include surf rock, grunge, metalcore, spy movie scores and "Egyptianesque harmonic-minor scales."

The tracklist is below. At the bottom of the page, watch videos for the dark psych-grunge tracks' "Gravedweller" and "Wire Frame Mattress."

Also below, see the band's upcoming tour schedule. They will be making their debut Toronto appearance later this month.
