Wyrd Sisters Can’t Put Spell On Harry Potter
Last year, Winnipeg-based band the Wyrd Sisters attempted to sue Jarvis Cocker and Radiohead’s Johnny Greenwood and Phil Selway, as well as Warner Entertainment and Warner Brothers Records, for portraying the similarly named band the Weird Sisters in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The Juno-nominated band’s co-founder Kim Baryluk complained there would be confusion if and when the band ever decided to play live again, and reportedly turned down a $50,000 peace offering, claiming it was an insulting gesture. Now Baryluk’s band have lost their battle in court, and are being ordered to pay $140,000 of Warner’s legal fees due to their "highly intrusive” lawsuit and criticism of the system. Karma is a bitch.
