WTF: Kind of Like Spitting to Play Reunion Show at St. Catharines Bakery

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jul 21, 2011

In what has to be one of the more bizarre reunion announcements in recent memory, Portland emo act Kind of Like Spitting have revealed that they'll be getting together for an intimate gig at a St. Catharines, ON bakery. This will be the outfit's first performance since wrapping up a ten-year run in 2006.

Vegan treat shop Rise Above posted earlier this week that Kind of Like Spitting will be rocking the bakery on July 24.

"This is absolutely crazy news for us," the entry reads, before hinting at this potentially being a one-time thing, at least in that neck of the woods. "This is the only planned Kind of Like Spitting show right now, and if there will be more this is the only one for the East Coast."

While the pastry shop seems like an out-there place to host the get together, there is a bit of history linking leader Ben Barnett's project to Rise Above. The bakery/catering company is run by Kyle Paton, a former member of fellow emo act Lemuria, who released a split with Kind of Like Spitting in 2006.

While there aren't any more dates lined up at present, let's hope Barnett and co. give the band another go sometime soon. If not, we'll be heading over to St. Catharines trying to weasel our way through the front doors. If you want to pair a vanilla dip doughnut with an even sweeter set from the emo icons, email the shop for a guest spot here.
