Writer's Strike Unveil 'Stay Down' EP

Writer's Strike Unveil 'Stay Down' EP
It's been just under a year since spiky Halifax pop troupe Writer's Strike, formerly known as First Aid Kit, delivered their debut tune "Bad Time," and the act have announced they have tripled that feat with news of a new free digital EP, Stay Down.

According to a press release, the band's new offering, which will be released November 22, "encapsulates their high-spirited, gang-vocal-laden brand of East Coast indie pop."

The three-track mini-effort collects tracks written by each of the act's songsmiths (Darryl Smith, Conor Hancey and Matt Davidson) and is said to ply the band's love for Bruce Springsteen and the Beach Boys with "middle-class roots rock and clever melodies." You can check download the title track here.

The song will also be featured on an upcoming spit seven-inch with occasional tourmate Rich Aucoin, whose backup band also features Smith. However, a street date has yet to be announced for the vinyl release.

More news is expected from Writer's Strike in the near future, as they have plans to tour the East Coast in support of Stay Down early next year and have an as-yet-unnamed debut full-length on the docket for 2012 as well.
