Published Nov 01, 2010Earlier this year, Colorado-based post-rock crew Woodsman impressed us with their Mystery Tape EP. With five tracks of spaced-out guitar jams, it clocked in at just under 30 minutes in length – as long as many LPs. The band's next release will be an official full-length, as they're getting set to roll out Rare Forms in January.
This will be the group's second LP, following 2009's Collages. There's currently no tracklist, but judging by the single "Insects" (which you can listen to here), the band have reined in their psychedelic jamming a bit – the lyrics are almost discernible, and the song has a clear structure.
Rare Forms will be released on CD and as a digital download via Lefse. The vinyl release will be handled by Firetalk, who will also release "Insects" as a seven-inch single, backed with an unreleased track. The seven-inch is on clear green vinyl and can be purchased here.
Prior to releasing Rare Forms, Woodsman will go on a west coast U.S. tour. See the dates below.
