Woodpigeon

Treasury Library Canada / Houndstooth Europa

BY Jill LangloisPublished Feb 22, 2009

If orchestral pop is your thing, I hope you've already discovered Calgary's Woodpigeon. If not, make sure you pick up their sophomore record, Treasury Library Canada. Love, hope and home are front-man and songwriter Mark Hamilton's areas of expertise throughout the 14 songs, and he continues the triumvirate of themes on bonus record Houndstooth Europa. Strings soar in "I Live A Lot Of Places" and voices blend like a cool breeze hitting the ocean mist in "Oberkampf," mixing flawlessly with the topics at hand. Woodpigeon take flight with an ease that their name wouldn't make you believe.
