Wolfmother

Please Experience Wolfmother Live

The first concert DVD from these ’70s-obsessed rockers from Oz nicely showcases the riff-happy power trio’s live prowess. The band’s Sabbath-Zeppelin-Deep Purple jams get kicked out righteously before a sold-out and screaming hometown crowd in Sydney. Hits such as "Woman,” "Dimension” and "Joker & The Thief” bring the boogie with so much energy that nobody seems to mind that singer/guitarist Andrew Stockdale (he of the Rob Tyner-esque ’fro) sings a lot of songs about unicorns and witches. And nor should they, quite frankly, because this is unabashed beer-drinkin’, head-bangin’, book-tossin’ rock’n’roll of the utmost competence. Also included is a short documentary ("Meet The Mother”) that strips away the cock rocking image to reveal a pleasantly normal set of fellas with heads well screwed-on. Other extras include two songs from what appears to have been an extremely boisterous show at Brixton Academy in London, five music videos and an awards show performance.
