Syn:Drom

With Flesh Unbound

BY Denise FalzonPublished May 4, 2010

Although Syn:Drom hail from Sweden, they don't play that classic Entombed-style of Swedish death metal. What they have done, however, is take cues from American death metal bands like Morbid Angel and Hate Eternal, and created a brutal release. With their debut full-length, With Flesh Unbound, Syn:Drom haven't reinvented the wheel by any means, but they certainly know their brand of metal and they pull it off exceptionally well, with strong tracks and tight, technical musicianship. The band follow the general pattern of hyper-blast beats, technical riffs and ominous, guttural growls, but what takes With Flesh Unbound a step away from mundane brutality is the clear, melodic element, with excellent lead guitar work by David Karlsson. The record's production quality is also stellar, with the album engineered and mixed by the band members, which only adds to the great impression Syn:Drom have made with this very powerful debut.
