Winnipeg's Oldfolks Home Make "Happy Divorce Album" with 'Black & Blue,' Premiere New Track
Oldfolks Home leader Ricardo Lopez-Aguilar is coming off a recent divorce, but the Winnipeg songwriter is bouncing back with the new album Black & Blue, due out on May 7 through Head in the Sand.

The disc was recorded at home and mixed at Winnipeg's Private Ear Recording, with the record featuring local guests like Keri Latimer (Nathan), Shaun Gibson (the Details) and Michael P. Falk (Les Jupes). It's billed as "the world's first happy divorce album," and apparently contains pop songs born from personal change. It's said to be "beautiful, haunting, and danceable."

Lopez said in a statement on Facebook, "I've been told that I may become known as the Taylor Swift of indie rock. But this isn't an album about placing blame, or gaining sympathy, or saving face. This is the product of allowing myself to grow out of my darkest moments, while patiently waiting for the good to come through."

Scroll down to hear the single "Sleeper," which pairs acoustic guitars with sprightly programmed beats. The previously unveiled double A-side Say Something Right, which contains "Garland's Moving to Vancouver" and "It Scares Me," is also below.
