Winnipeg Folk Festival Gets City and Colour, the Avett Brothers, Colin Meloy for 40th Anniversary

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Winnipeg Folk Festival, and the organizers have confirmed the acts who will be performing at 2013's milestone event, which runs from July 10 to 14.

The lineup includes City and Colour, the Avett Brothers, Decemberists frontman Colin Meloy, Indigo Girls, Dr. John and the Nite Trippers, Patrick Watson, Whitehorse, Serena Ryder, Jason Collett, Cold Specks, the Cat Empire, Martin Sexton, Rich Aucoin, Rose Cousins, Aidan Knight, A Tribe Called Red, Dr. Dog, Danny Michel, Galactic, the Milk Carton Kids, Del Barber, Kaki King, Lindi Ortega, Sean Rowe, the Blind Boys of Alabama, Xavier Rudd and more. This year's event will also feature some performers from the original Winnipeg Folk Festival in 1974, including Stringband, Leon Redbone, Bob King, Sylvia Tyson and Ken Whiteley.

The festival will take place at Birds Hill Provincial Park and offers two new forest stages, a festival village, 20 food kiosks and additional shade structures.

Early bird tickets are available now and include various options ranging from multi-day passes (with or without camping) to one-day tickets. The prices will go up on May 1 before rising again on July 1, so interested parties are advised to act soon. Peruse the ticketing options here.
