Published Dec 22, 2010In 2009, San Francisco duo Windsurf caught our attention with Coastlines, a collection of Balearic, house, disco and soft pop from producers Daniel Judd and Sam Grawe. When he's not working in Windsurf, however, Grawe is just as successful with his ambient, long-form compositions made under the Hatchback moniker. This February, Hatchback will issue Zeus and Apollo, the follow-up to 2008's Colors of the Sun.
With Hatchback, a press release explains that Graw is drawing on "the experiments of Vangelis, Cluster, Michael Rother, Brian Eno, Harold Budd, Iasos, Popol Vuh, Klaus Schulze and Tangerine Dream" for inspiration. Zeus and Apollo is said to be "beautifully constructed and produced, the intricate layers and melodious tones will send one spinning effortlessly out into the galaxy."
Zeus and Apollo will be available on February 1 on CD and double LP courtesy of Lo Recordings. A tracklisting taken from a European online shop is below. If that tracklisting is accurate, five of the album's six tracks are available on SoundCloud here.
Zeus and Apollo:
1. "Sunrise Prototypes"
2. "Zeus and Apollo"
3. "Orinoco Waltz"
4. "Tapir Tango"
6. "The Violet Sequence"
