Published Oct 31, 2013Willis Earl Beal performed at the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn on Monday (October 28), and he was joined on stage for an apparently unrehearsed collaboration with Cat Power (a.k.a. Chan Marshall).
Beal coaxes Power to sing part of an a cappella rendition of Bob Dylan's "Pledging My Time," but they struggle and have trouble gelling. They are both seated on the stage as they switch to the Cat Power original "Color and the Kids," but Marshall's voice is largely swallowed up by Earl's massive, husky croon.
The video is apparently fan-made, but the quality is excellent and their are multiple angles. Beal posted in on his official YouTube channel.
