Will Samson Announces 'Lua' EP, Premieres Title Track

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jun 30, 2016

Will Samson shared "Ground Luminosity" with us late last year, but now the UK musician has set his sights on a brand new release. His next EP is named Lua, and it's due out on July 29 through 12K.

The upcoming release was recorded with "a collection of various, aging tape machines," yielding a set of new five songs. Samson wrote and produced the EP, which also features guest appearance from Message to Bears and Benoît Pioulard. Beatrijs De Klerck also plays a prominent role, contributing her violin-playing talents throughout the process.

"The whole process was about being open and allowing the music to flow out naturally, without letting my analytical mind become involved," Samson explained in a statement. "To just press record on my tape machines and see what happens. This experiment allowed me to produce some honest documents of how I was really feeling at the time with all that was going on in my life."

The first sampling of the new material arrives with the title track, which Exclaim! is pleased to premiere. "Lua" is an atmospheric piece that toes the line between brooding and hopeful, managing to convey a subtle, sombre sort of sonic beauty. Scroll past the tracklisting for Lua and hit play to let the song wash over you.

Cover artist Gregory Euclide will have limited-edition, signed prints available of the artwork, which include a download link. You can order those here.
