Will Haven

Carpe Diem

BY Greg PrattPublished Dec 1, 2001

On Carpe Diem, Will Haven's greatest asset is a dangerous liability: experimentation. When the band actually gets around to their songs proper, it is a fairly impressive jagged metallic hardcore sound marred only by pretty bad vocals. Unfortunately, all the segues, interludes and drawn out segments of seemingly dead air really slow things down, killing all momentum and annoying the hell out of the listener. If Will Haven grabbed some focus, they may be a force to be reckoned with in the metalcore genre. In the meantime, consider this one vague and frustrating, useful only to the diehard Will-er out there.
