Wild Beasts Return with 'Boy King' LP, Share "Get My Bang" Video

Wild Beasts released their last LP, Present Tense, in 2014, and now the UK indie outfit are ready to follow it up with a new one titled Boy King.

It marks the band's fifth studio album and will arrive on August 5 via Domino. The LP will be treated to release on heavyweight 12-inch vinyl with a download card and bonus 7-inch single, as well as in standard and deluxe CD and digital formats. The deluxe editions will each feature a supplement dubbed Boy King Trash.

Hayden Thorpe, Tom Fleming, Ben Little and Chris Talbot reprise their roles in the band, leaving the reflective, technology-centric vibe of Present Tense in the past and opting, as Fleming puts it, to get "back to being pissed off" on the new material.

Boy King was recorded on Dallas alongside producer John Congleton, and the 10 songs pit buoyant pop sounds against Thorpe's "libidinous" lyrics, "prowling aggression" and "interior darkness."

"I think Boy King is an apocalyptic record," Thorpe said. "It's about swimming in the abyss. When you think about sex, you've got to think about death, they're one and the same."

To preface the new record, the band have unveiled a video for "Get My Bang." It was shot in Belgrade by director Olivier Groulx and, as a press release puts it, showcases frontman Thorpe's own take on "Justin Timberlake-meets-Trent Reznor choreography."
