Wilco Postpone Solid Sound Festival Until 2013

If you were hoping to head on down to Massachusetts this year to check out alt-country luminaries Wilco's annual music event, the Solid Sound Festival, you might want to hold off on making travel plans, because the group have decided to pass on a 2012 edition.

"The festival is dearly loved by all of us -- from the band to the staff who organize and execute it -- so the decision to take 2012 off was not an easy one," festival co-organizer and Wilco manager Tony Margherita said in a statement.

He goes on to add that the band's busy schedule, from producing their The Whole Love LP, starting up the dBpm record label and heading out on tour, is preventing them from truly putting one hundred percent into the project, so they've opted to start planning for 2013. Specifically, the fest will return June 21 to 23, 2013.

"All that factored in to deciding that the best thing for us and for the festival would be to give ourselves enough time and energy to really focus on making Solid Sound 2013 the best one yet," Margherita said.

Wilco will, however, be announcing a benefit gig at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (Mass MoCA), where Solid Sound takes place, to happen sometime in the summer.
