Just shy of two years from the release of Wil's Heart of Mine, the Vancouver Island folk player will deliver his first-ever concert set, Live at the Ironwood. The record, Wil's first for new label Cordova Bay Entertainment, hits retailers October 8.
The performance was captured at Calgary's Ironwood venue, with recording engineer Josh Gwilliam later taking the songs into the studio for a proper mix. According to Wil, he wasn't so sure about a live release at first, but was plenty pleased with the results.
"It's one thing to go to a live show and take it all in and quite another to have those songs come off well on a live audio recording," he explained in a statement. "I mean, it's really just me and my drummer (for the most part) plus how can our sound and dynamic, that cumulative vibe and experience within the room be captured on disc?"
Apparently said dynamism is intact for the eight-song recording, whose tracklist you'll find below. If you need a quick audio fix, the album's "Both Hands" is streaming here.
Wil will also be heading out on the road this fall for a Western Canadian tour, which you'll note, via the listing down below, includes a two-night stand at the Ironwood.
