Published Feb 09, 2009After years of UK-only operations, Wichita is coming to North America. Marking a first for the London-based home of acts such as Bloc Party, Les Savy Fav and Simian Mobile Disco, the imprint has lined up a series of new releases for this side of the Atlantic, effectively giving some much-needed domestic releases to a handful of Wichita bands.
First up are Those Dancing Days, the all-girl Swedish five-piece whose 2008 full-length, In Our Space Hero Suits, will now hit our shores minus the high import price tag. Also on deck are the laid-back rock sounds of Leeds outfit Sky Larkin and their The Golden Spike LP, as well as the lo-fi thrash of Lovvers' Think! EP and the Knife-discovered Stockholm duo First Aid Kit, who will drop their Drunken Trees release later this year.
There are no specific release dates yet for any of the four Wichita releases but all the bands will be trekking over to the U.S. to play this year's SXSW. Also, you can currently get a little sampling of each through the new freely downloadable Wichita sampler, which you can grab over here.
And, hey, check it out: First Aid Kit like Fleet Foxes too.
