The Who Announce 50 Year Anniversary Compilation, Premiere New Song

BY Josiah HughesPublished Sep 25, 2014

Classic rock gods The Who have made it halfway to 100, celebrating their 50th year as a group this year. They've already announced a tour (which very well may be their last), and now they'll pair it with another soon-to-be-relic from the past — a double-disc CD collection.

Though they could've called it Dad's Sunday Drive Playlist, the new Who collection has been dubbed The Who Hits 50! The release falls eight songs short of the band's special number, cobbling together 42 tracks from their long career.

Among them is a new song called "Be Lucky." Described as "a classic Who rocker," the song marks the group's first new material since they released Endless Wire in 2006. You can check it out below.

The song features the Who's Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend alongside Zak Starkey, Pino Pallodino and Mick Talbot. It was produced by Mick Talbot, and, in addition to its inclusion on the band's new compilation, will also be released as a stand-alone single. Proceeds from the song will be donated to the Teen Cancer America charity, run by Daltrey and Townshend.

The Who Hits 50! is set to hit shelves on October 27. The album's tracklisting is available below.
