Whitehorse Announce 'The Fate of the World Depends on This Kiss'

BY Alex HudsonPublished Aug 9, 2012

Married musical duo Whitehorse emerged with their self-titled debut last year, and now Luke Doucet and Melissa McClelland are preparing to release another album. The Fate of the World Depends on This Kiss will arrive on August 28 through Six Shooter Records.

According to a press release, the album takes "surprising turns" while still being anchored by "blistering guitar work and love-knotted vocals."

For a taste of what the album has to offer, listen to the twangy duet "Achilles' Desire" at the bottom of this page. It's described as "a love song of sorts about vulnerability and adversity."

The band will promote their new album with a selection of tour dates, including a number of Canadian shows. If you haven't yet seen the band live, the performance is said to be "built on mesmerizing guitar work and smouldering vocal chemistry, but also brings much more to the stage with complex layers of percussion, keyboard and telephone receiver amplification, tangled like an embrace with the help of looping pedals."
