If making a very important date with Alice appeals to you this weekend, then go see Tim Burton's long-awaited CGI/3D adaptation of the psychedelic Lewis Carroll tale. Alice in Wonderland stars Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen and Australia's Mia Wasikowska as the legendary Alice.

Jacques Audiard's Exclaim!-recommended A Prophet also hits theatres. The French crime film has been nominated for numerous awards and follows an Arab man who becomes involved with a mafia kingpin after he's been sent to pay time within prison walls.

Roman Polanski makes a return from his legal woes with The Ghost Writer, starring Ewan McGregor and Pierce Brosnan. The film follows a ghostwriter hired to complete the memoirs of a former British prime minster.

And Richard Gere and Ethan Hawke join forces in Antonie Fuqua's cop drama Brooklyn's Finest. A massive drug operation collectively fuses three unrelated cops who all come from very different places in life.
