With Hurley behind them and a B-sides collection on the way, Weezer are now allegedly at work on their ninth studio album. As we recently reported, frontman Rivers Cuomo has revealed that the band have already been demoing new material, and he's teamed up with Best Coast's Bethany Cosentino to write a song together.

Speaking with Australian radio station Triple J [via Consequence of Sound], Cuomo said, "I definitely really enjoyed working with other musicians, other artists so I continued that process on Hurley. I'm still doing it actually, tomorrow I'm getting together with the girl from Best Coast and we're going to write a song. You never know where these songs are going to end up but it could be on the next Weezer record."

The "other musicians" Cuomo is referring to includes Lil Wayne, All-American Rejects, Ryan Adams and numerous others who have collaborated with the band in the past. If Best Coast's track makes the cut, the upcoming Weezer album may be a very indie rock affair. Last month, British post-punks Male Bonding tweeted that they were in the studio with the bespectacled rocker.
