Published Jul 16, 2010These days, any information about a new Weezer album is bound to provoke equal amounts of excitement and scorn in fans of the once-great group. It's been less than a year since the band made their foray into mall pop with Raditude, and now they've already set their sights on the followup.
In an interview with NewsTimes [via Consequence of Sound], frontman Rivers Cuomo revealed that Weezer's eighth album is slated to come out on September 14. As for what the album will sound like, expect the band to return to a more heavy-hitting sound. "There's definitely going to be more raw rock energy on this one," Cuomo said.
He also discussed possible titles for the album, asking, "How does Heavy Mental sound?" NewsTimes says that the statement was a joke, but unfortunately that sounds exactly like a Weezer title.
There's no word on which label will be putting out the album, as their label status is unclear after their contract finished with Geffen following Raditude.
