Published Jun 23, 2010Though many lament for the good old days when Matt Sharp was still a member of the band, alt-pop superstars Weezer remain one of the hardest working bands around. Still touring in support of their 2009 effort Raditude, the quartet recently penned an anthem for the U.S. men's World Cup team. Now, frontman Rivers Cuomo has revealed that they're hard at work on their eighth album.
Speaking with MTV, Cuomo said that he's already writing the next batch of Weezer jams. "I don't know what I'm supposed to say here, so I'm going to keep my mouth shut," he said. "But, uh, people are going to be hearing new Weezer very soon."
Like Raditude, the next Weezer album will feature some interesting guests. Among them is alt-country star/Dio fan Ryan Adams.
"I just wrote a song with Ryan Adams. Not Bryan, Ryan," Cuomo explained. "It's a very stirring and emotional and powerful Weezer song. He was really inspiring to work with... He has a lot of wild and crazy energy. It's gonna be on the Weezer record. He plays lead guitar on it, but it will be on the Weezer record, for sure."
In addition to the new material, Weezer have just dropped a music video for their U.S. soccer anthem "Represent" today. The video can be streamed below.
