Weezer Plan Odds and Ends Rarities Comp

After Rivers Cuomo recently raided his vault of solo home recordings for Alone II, he’s leaked word that Weezer plan to do the same. In a recent Billboard interview, the Weez front-man said the band are digging through their previously unreleased material to assemble the tentatively titled Odds and Ends, a new career-spanning collection of, well, odds and ends.

"[Odds and Ends is] just another fun project to do. They're great songs, but for some reason they didn't make the final cut for [a] record,” Cuomo said. "They span a vast period of time from the very beginning of our career in the early '90s right up to the present day."

However, Cuomo went on to say he has "no idea” when the rarities comp will be out but did say Weezer recently recorded six classic Christmas carols, such as "Oh Holy Night," which fans will soon be able to download for the iPhone game Tap Tap Revenge.

He also said he’s penned a track for teen pop duo Aly & AJ but is unsure when it might be ready for public consumption.

"It was such a blast to remember how teenagers approach songwriting," he said of working with the group. "Their minds just work so fast and they have no fear and no ego."

Among other recent Weezer activities, Cuomo told Billboard the group may soon be hitting the road with Oasis and are hoping to once again rope in director Spike Jonze to do a video for "The Greatest Man Who Ever Lived” from Weezer’s The Red Album.
