Weezer Reveal $25,000 Bundle for "The White Album"

While many fans may be looking forward to picking up Weezer's new self-titled album when the record otherwise known as "The White Album" comes out, the pop rock vets are offering one lucky listener the chance to buy a deluxe edition that apparently includes a vacation to the Galapagos Islands with frontman Rivers Cuomo. The catch? This will set you back $25,000 US.

The legitimacy of Weezer's "Experience Bundle" edition of "The White Album" has yet to be determined, but the band are currently trying to sell this on their website for an exorbitant amount of money. You'll get, of course, the new album, but the real peach of the package is that you also get to "take a Greyhound to the Galapagos with Rivers where you'll stay only for a limited time."

UPDATE (01/21, 5:03): Weezer have announced that someone has bought the $25,000 pre-order package late last night. The band made the announcement via Facebook this afternoon.

Whoa, got word that someone bought the $25k pre-order package on weezerwebstore.com late last night. Time to figure out how to get a Greyhound to the Galapagos.

Other incentives for the bundle include the opportunity to go bird watching, enjoy a catamaran trip to the Charles Darwin Research Station on Santa Cruz Island, and later see Weezer on their North American tour. Other more traditional goodies include a T-shirt, hat, crewneck sweatshirt and frisbee.

Oddly, it also lists that you can "sing 'the British are coming' with Rivers in the Galapagos but replace every lyric about 'old king george' to 'lonesome george,' and you'll also apparently be given the temporary title of "King of the World." It also somewhat buries the fact that in addition to shelling out $25,000 to the band, you also have to pay for Rivers' travel costs.

Now, if "taking a Greyhound" to the Galapagos Islands didn't already sound an alarm for you, please keep in mind that Weezer issue their latest LP on April 1. That said, who's to blame if some future Darwin Award winner actually goes along with this?

As previously announced, Weezer's self-titled new album features previously premiered singles "Thank God for Girls" and "Do You Wanna Get High?," as well as "King of the World." They head off on tour with Panic! at the Disco later this year, stopping in Burnaby, BC and Toronto along the way. You'll find the tour info here.
